Description
Ostia Tools are proud to be able to offer for sale this Boxford VSL Lathe
3 Phase, 5″ centre height, Metric, full working order, original condition.
The VSL model is like the AUD lathe in that it has a power feed apron providing power feed on both axis and has the full screw cutting gearbox. What separates the VSL from the AUD is the variable speed control which allows the user to change the speed whilst the machine is running. The VSL also has an L00 spindle which provides a greater spindle bore than the standard AUD/BUD machines. The VSL has a larger cross slide dial for greater ease of reading.
Fitted with Coolant pump which is fully plumbed in.
Comes with the rare metric thread dial indicator and splash guard.
The machine is supplied with:
3 jaw scroll chuck with both internal and external jaws
8″ 4 Jaw independent chuck
Drive plate
Catch plate
Fixed and travelling steady
L00 Spindle spanner
Pair of dead centres and headstock spindle reducing bush
Quick change tool post with 4 tool holders
Drill chuck for tailstock
Revolving centre for tailstock
This is a fantastic machine in all original condition which has not had any paint touch ups. The original paint condition gives an indication to how little the machine has been used.
It is supplied with a comprehensive selection of accessories and other than the cutting tools, there is nothing that needs to be added or purchased to use this machine.
These VSL machines are fairly rare as they were expensive to purchase new so there are not many out there and they rarely come on the market as those who own them never want to sell them.
I wouldn’t recommend running this machine through a VFD. From my limited knowledge of the way VFDs work, I think the speed indicator clock would not work when running this machine through a VFD. You could still use the variable speed function but you wouldn’t be able to read the spindle RPMs
