We consider this machine to be the Mk2 of the X10 series. Take a look at our Boxford TS 10.20 lathe for the Mk1. The Mk2 has a slightly different cabinet with an angled splash guard and the naming system changed from the 10.20 which was the centre height and distance between centres in inches to 250 which is the swing in mm.

Unlike our TS10.20 machine, this Boxford 250 has the full screw cutting gearbox so less changes are required on the gear train. However the gearbox will cut all the threads shown in bold on the gear train cover. You will need additional gears to cut the other gears but we suggest purchasing these as you need them ( we can supply them). The reason we say to buy them as you need them is that some people want to get all the gears at the start and then they realise they dont need them. For example the 60T gear opens up the gearbox a lot more so that would be our first recommendation for purchase (followed by the 42T) but the 57T gear is only used when cutting 19 TPI so very unlikely to be required. 

This is a nice clean machine. We find that white machines show up any marks more than any other colour of machine and as you can see, this machine doesn’t have many marks on it especially considering it is 30 years old at least. 

We have fitted new bed wipers, new chuck guard perspex and new headstock mat as well as undertaking a full service.
