  • Ostia Tools assisted Chase Community College with a last minute, urgent removal of equipment. We received an urgent request to quote from Chase Community College in order to facilitate demolition of its old school building. The school was moving to a new building and getting all new equipment into its Design Technology department, however the sale of the existing equipment had not yet been arranged and the demolition company was not able to begin the demolition of the old building until the machinery had been disconnected and removed. The College sent over photos of the machines via WhatsApp and we provided a quote for the equipment on the same day. Once the school accepted the quote, we were able to book the work in within 3 business days and were on site to remove the machinery by 7am that day, with all equipment across two workshops disconnected and removed by midday. The demolition company was able to get on site the next day.

  • Ostia Tools was awarded a contract to remove a full Design Technology workshop from Riverside School, which had lain dormant for over three years. Riverside School had moved to a new building in September 2017 with a full Design Technology workshop. However, the workshop had not been used for over three years due to the absence of a DT teacher to run the department, but the DT equipment was still being serviced annually as a result of a service contract which the school had with the company who had installed the equipment. Once the school was out of its service contract, it made the decision to sell the contents of the workshops in order to save money on the services and so that it could convert the workshop space into something more useful.
Ostia Tools submitted a bid for the equipment and was awarded the contract to remove the machinery. In total, 17 fixed machines and 16 workbenches were removed from the school. All the equipment was effectively brand new, having not been used in the 3 years since installation. The removal was undertaken by Ostia Tools in one day with a team of 4 people and 3 vehicles. The majority of the machinery and all of the workbenches have since been put back into other school workshops.

  • In the summer of 2026, Ostia Tools worked with the Laurus Trust at Hazel Grove High School which was fully refurbishing its Design Technology department. Our work at HGHS had a number of different elements. First, we purchased machinery which was not going to be installed in the refurbished department. Second, whilst construction work on the department was underway, we removed and stored the machinery which HGHS was retaining. Lastly, Ostia Tools went back on site, once the construction team had finished the work, in order to safely reinstall the retained machinery which we had kept in storage for HGHS.

At the same time, Ostia Tools worked at Cheadle Hulme High School, which is part of the same Multi Academy Trust, to disconnect and remove 3 lathes and 2 milling machines. These machines were then transported to HGHS and reinstalled at its new workshop.
