Description
Ostia Tools offer for sale this Denford Viceroy Metal Lathe
This model is equivalent to the Boxford CUD. The naming system on the viceroy lathes is very tricky to understand so it is best to compare them to the easier system of the Boxfords. As with the CUD lathes, this machine does not have a screwcutting gearbox or power feed apron. To set the correct screw cutting pitch, the user will need to change the configuration of the gear train.
The Viceroy machines are arguably better than the Boxfords. They have a larger spindle bore, larger tailstock morse taper, better designed bed and a handy feature which disengages the screw cutting feed if the apron hits the headstock which can save the half nuts.
Overall it is a nice clean machine. The drip tray has been repainted as Denford used to use a red primer under the black paint which showed up every scratch. The remaining blue is all original paint.
